As
informed by the director of the Centre for Technical Culture Rijeka (CTC
Rijeka) Olivera Stanić, the course on PC and internet basics, taking place
under the sponsorship of the City of Rijeka,
has been envisaged as a course entitling the beneficiaries who pay in an annual
fee for the Internet Club to attend it free of charge.
“The
goal of this training course is to provide the citizens with essential PC and
internet knowledge to enable them to use independently the internet and PC,
motivate them to learn and make progress in the acquisition of IT knowledge and
skills. In these difficult times, citizens who are not familiar with PCs, are devoid
of access to a number of services that may facilitate and make their lives less
expensive,” said Stanić.
Lessons
will be held on a weekly basis, every lesson will include two periods. The
first lesson is scheduled for 9 February, starting at 18:00 h at the Multimedia
Centre, Školjić 6. Since the lessons will last until November, all
who are interested in it, will be able to join the subjects that they find
interesting or even propose topics that need to be addressed.
As
informed by Ante Šušnjara, manager of the Internet Club, they will start with PC
basics explaining Windows and Open Office, and will proceed with Internet
skills – from Google tools such as search, e-mail or translation features, to
complementing Wikipedia, using communication tools such as Chat or Skype or
social networks such as Facebook. It will certainly be interesting to course
takers to learn how to add or remove a video material from Youtube and convert
it, or how to buy safely via Amazon or eBay.
When
they become members of the Internet Club, beneficiaries get 20 hours of free access
to the internet, and much more – although the lessons will be held once a week,
with every visit to the Internet Club, the beneficiaries may get useful advice or
assistance. Also, at the Internet Club they can meet other beneficiaries and
exchange interests or knowledge.
